Summary:

A GOD OF WAR SEEKING RESTORATION.

AN UNWILLING SACRIFICIAL BRIDE.

BETRAYAL THAT COULD DESTROY THEM BOTH.

“[E]very fiber of my being is woven from the rage of mortals.”

Theodric, the young God of War, has a talent for inciting conflict and bloodshed. After being stripped of his powers by his older brother, King of Gods, he sets out to instigate a mortal war to prove himself worthy of being restored to power.

“I loved Kisk once; it was my home… But that was before. This is now.”

Sixteen-year-old Cassia, like many in the modern era, believes gods and goddesses to be just a myth. Enemy to her country and an orphan of the war, she has no time for fairy tales. That’s until religious zealots from Theo’s sect offer her up as a sacrifice.

Can Cassia and Theo end the mortal war and return balance to the earth and heavens? Or, will their game of fate lead down a path of destruction, betrayal, and romance neither of them saw coming?

Character Interview with Cassia

Q1: First things first: can you tell us a little about yourself?
Cassia: My name is Cassia Stavros. I’m sixteen and lived on the western coast of Kisk my entire life—I’m technically dead now so living in Theo’s realm doesn’t count.

Q2: Speaking of Kisk, things were extremely difficult for you the last two years and the way you left was nothing short of traumatic. Despite that, do you find yourself homesick at all?
Cassia: Yes and no. Now that things have settled down, I do feel a little homesick but for a time rather than a place. I miss the smell of my mother’s cooking filling the house, seeing my dad work in the garden, and bickering with my brother. But that isn’t what Kisk is anymore.

Q3: It sounds like your mother was a good cook. Have you had any luck making a tabowi crepe yet?
Cassia: No comment.

Q4: We saw Theo give you a mythology book. Were there any particular myths you enjoyed?
Cassia: Ugh, that book is so frustrating! I can’t tell the truth from the lies which makes all of the stories hard to like. Everything seems equally ridiculous, but the one about the afterlife is my favorite. It’s probably completely made up but since Leander won’t tell me, I’m going to believe it.

Q5: How are you doing with skipping rocks? Are you getting any better?
Cassia: Not really. The few times I’ve done it seem like mistakes at this point.

Q6: For our final question, if you were a goddess, what would you rule over?
Cassia: That’s a hard question. I never want to rule over anything, but if I have to pick: truth. Which might sound odd since I wasn’t exactly honest myself, but I’ve seen the damage lies can cause. The lives they can destroy.
