by Cat Jordan
Genre: YA Contemporary Fiction
Release date: November 7th 2017
HarperTeen

Summary from Goodreads:

A heart-wrenching romance full of twists that are sure to bring tears to readers’ eyes, from Cat Jordan, author of The Leaving Season.

How long does it take to travel twenty light years to Earth?

How long does it take to fall in love?

To the universe, eight days is a mere blip, but to Matty Jones, it may be just enough time to change his life.

On the hot summer day Matty’s dad leaves for good, a strange girl suddenly appears in the empty field next to the Jones farm—the very field in rural Pennsylvania where a spaceship supposedly landed fifty years ago. She is uniquely beautiful, sweet, and smart, and she tells Matty she’s waiting for herspaceship to pick her up and return her to her home planet. Of course she is.

Matty has heard a million impossible UFO stories for each of his seventeen years: the conspiracy theories, the wild rumors, the crazy belief in life beyond the stars. When he was a kid, he and his dad searched the skies and studied the constellations. But all of that is behind him. Dad’s gone—but now there’s Priya. She must be crazy…right?

As Matty unravels the mystery of the girl in the field, he realizes there is far more to her than he first imagined. And if he can learn to believe in what he can’t see: the universe, aliens…love…then maybe the impossible is possible, after all.

Guest Post –

Romantic Dates Characters would love/hate

Love:

1. Visit to a planetarium
An obvious choice, although it would be hard to pull Priya away from the dome and actually have some romance.

2. Star Trek movie marathon
Matty loves Star Trek: The Next Generation and Voyager and Priya is a fan of the Original Series, so they can compare and contrast the captains and their adventures.

3. Walk along the beach
There isn’t a beach in Pennsylvania, sadly, but if they could get a ride to the Jersey Shore, Matty would love to walk hand-in-hand with Priya and learn how to surf together.

4. Pizza anywhere
Both are pizza fiends and trying all kinds of pizzas would be very romantic to them

5. Hot air balloon ride
The closest both of them will get to outer space…or will they?

Hate:

1. Dinner at a fancy restaurant
Matty’s town has no such thing as a fancy restaurant so they would have to travel somewhere but who has the money for that?

2. Take a pottery class
This seems like a romantic idea (think of Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze in the movie, Ghost) but actually, all you’re doing is painting on a plate. With a whole bunch of other people in the room. Not exactly romantic.

3. Ride a bicycle for two
When you have a dirt bike that can squeeze two bodies together, who needs a bicycle where the bodies are far apart?

4. Drive-in movie
No car.

5. Take a ballroom dance lesson
Priya already has a hard time standing in the gravity of our planet; dancing would be even more challenging. However, this would mean Matty would have to grab onto her a lot and hold her up, so…count this as a “maybe.”

cat jordan.jpgAbout the Author

When I was a teenager, the very first book I ever tried to write was pretentious and stilted and set in a future where there was no paper. Obviously, I fancied myself another Ray Bradbury (who I was thrilled to meet not once but twice!). The book had an awesome title and no plot but I had the most fun creating the characters and the world they lived in. That to me is the most enjoyable part of writing a novel: envisioning a world and populating it with all kinds of people and dogs. Gotta have a dog.

The worlds I create now as an adult are based on my travels from coast to coast in the US, to Europe and Mexico and Canada, and on the people I have met and loved and admired and feared. And dogs.

Currently I live in Los Angeles. With my dog.

Genre: YA Contemporary Fiction
Release Date: August 28th 2016

Summary from Goodreads:

Nicole is an 18-year-old, juvenile delinquent who desperately wants to take control of her life but must find a way to overcome her own self-sabotage and a judge who won’t easily let her escape her past. She keeps food on her plate and clothes on her back by stealing. It is far from the life she wants, but she has known little kindness in her life and, therefore, gives little back. When Judge Newton charges her for the first time as an adult, Nicole recognizes a separating path: She can stay on her path to destruction or she can accept the unexpected generosity of the Kutcher family, whose house she is charged with burglarizing.

Child psychologist, Cynthia Kutcher, believes she can help Nicole confront her anger and build back the self-worth she lost when her father abandoned her to a drunken uncle after her mother’s death.
Along the way to building a more valuable life, Nicole meets Keagan, an affluent young man with whom she begins an often overwhelming love affair despite the conflicts their disparate pasts bring.

Fates and Furies Blog Tour

Blog Tour, Misc.

The Olympian gods have caused Hope nothing but chaos…

Hope escaped the Underworld with her life, but her memories are as blank as the Book of the Fates she brought back. Still determined to break the curse, she and Xan take an offering to the Olympian temple to solicit the goddess Artemis for aid. But the petition has disastrous results, and now the gods are hunting her.

Athan sacrificed everything for Hope, but she’s leaving him behind to travel with Xan to Mount Olympus. But the closer they get, the more Athan’s mortality becomes a liability. Forced to seek refuge in mists and darkness, Athan tangles with deities that weave the very threads of fate. But these goddesses also wield the immortal blades that lay ruin to destinies.

With everyone she loves damaged or destroyed by the blood of Olympus, Hope must face the power of the past to change the fate of her future.

Raye Wagner writes young adult urban fantasy with a Greek mythology twist. She’s a big fan of both the Percy Jackson series (shocker) and the Twilight saga (gasp), and those two series *might* have led her to pursue her dream of writing teen fiction.Raye’s a big believer in realistic characters and draws on her background in healthcare to ensure that her strong protagonists are believably flawed and act rationally. She loves reading YA romantic fantasy so there’s bound to be some kissing in her books. That being said, Raye writes for all ages, so it’s clean romance. 😉 Raye also relies heavily on her martial arts training to pen realistic fight scenes (3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do) with believable consequences.
